Turkey Taco Bowls
Meal Prep is great to ensure a healthy meal quick and easy! This dish is great for beginners!
Ingredients:
Taco Seasoning
1 TBSP chili powder
1 ½ tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
¾ tsp paprika
¾ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
Taco Bowl Base
1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey
1 small yellow onion, diced
taco seasoning (see recipe above)
½ cup water
2 cups cooked rice
2 cups chopped or shredded romaine lettuce
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)
2 cups corn (canned or cooked from frozen)
Ideas to build your bowl: (choose your favorites)
diced tomatoes or fresh salsa
guacamole or sliced avocado
thinly sliced red onion (raw, sautéed, or pickled)
tortilla chips or corn chips
fresh cilantro and/or chopped scallions
sliced jalapeño peppers
grated cheddar cheese
lime wedges
Hot sauce
Directions:
- Cook ground beef and diced onions until thoroughly cooked through. Drain grease.
- Sprinkle taco seasonings over meat and add water. Cook until water is gone, and meat is thoroughly seasoned.
- Layer rice, cooked beef or turkey, lettuce, black beans and corn in bowl. (If meal prepping leave lettuce out until serving.)
- Top with additional bowl items according to taste.
- If meal prepping this dish, Put meat, cheese, rice, corn, and beans in dish. Put additional items in a separate container that can be added after the dish is warmed.
